Our commitment to safer gambling
Gambling should be entertainment, not a way to make money or to solve money worries. Most people who play with us stay within their means and stop when they meant to. Our job is to keep that simple: clear information, controls you can apply yourself at any time, and staff who act when you tell us something is wrong.
Before you deposit, decide how much you are prepared to lose and how long you want to play for. Treat that amount as the price of the entertainment. If you reach it, stop for the day rather than depositing again to win the money back.
- Only gamble with money you can afford to lose, never with money set aside for rent, bills or food.
- Do not borrow money to gamble, and do not chase losses.
- Set a time budget as well as a money budget before you start.
- Keep gambling as one of several things you enjoy, rather than the main one.
- Avoid playing when you are upset, bored, under pressure or have been drinking.
Our games are for adults only. You must be 18 or over to hold an account with us. We hold a gaming licence for the games we offer, and we verify the age and identity of every account holder.
18+ only
Gambling can be addictive. Please play within your means. If it stops being fun, use the tools in your account or speak to one of the organisations named on this page.
The tools in your account, and how to switch them on
Every account includes a set of safer gambling controls. You will find them in the safer gambling area of your account settings once you are logged in, and our live chat team can apply any of them for you if you would rather not do it yourself.
Deposit limits
A deposit limit caps how much you can pay into your account over a set period, with the periods available shown in the cashier. A new, lower limit takes effect straight away. A request to raise or remove a limit is held for a cooling-off period first, and we will never apply an increase without your confirmation.
Loss and session limits
A loss limit caps the net amount you can lose over the period you choose. A session limit caps how long a single logged-in session can last; when the time is up, the session ends and play stops. Both can be lowered at any time.
Reality checks
A reality check is an on-screen reminder that appears at the interval you set. It tells you how long you have been playing and where you stand for the session, then asks whether you want to carry on or stop.
Time-outs
A time-out closes your account to play for a short, fixed period, from a single day up to the longest option shown in your settings. You cannot deposit or stake during a time-out, marketing is switched off, and any remaining balance can still be withdrawn. A time-out cannot be lifted early.
Self-exclusion
Self-exclusion is for longer breaks. Your account is closed to play for at least the minimum period shown in your settings, you are removed from our marketing, and we take reasonable steps to stop you opening a new account with us. It cannot be cancelled while it runs, and when it expires your account stays closed until you contact us and confirm, after a further cooling-off period, that you wish to play again.
- Log in and open your account settings, then the safer gambling section.
- Choose the control you want: a deposit, loss or session limit, a reality check, a time-out or self-exclusion.
- Set the amount or period, then confirm your choice.
- If you would prefer us to do it, use live chat or e-mail responsiblegaming@casinotemplenile.co.uk and we will apply it for you.
Signs that gambling may be becoming a problem
No single sign means someone has a gambling problem, but the more of these you recognise, the more reason there is to stop and take stock. Go through the list with your own play in mind and answer honestly.
- You play for longer, or for more money, than you planned to.
- You go back to try to win back money you have lost.
- You borrow, sell things or use money meant for bills in order to gamble.
- You hide how much you gamble, or play it down when asked.
- You think about gambling while you are doing other things.
- Gambling is affecting your work, studies, sleep, health or relationships.
- You gamble to escape stress, boredom or low mood.
- You have tried to cut down and found that you could not.
- Someone close to you has raised concerns about your gambling.
If several of these apply, set a deposit limit or take a time-out now, while the decision is an easy one, and then speak to one of the organisations below. You do not need to be in crisis to ask for help, and the help is free.
Where to get help
Support in the UK is free and confidential. You can approach these organisations about your own gambling, or on behalf of a family member or friend.
- GambleAware - a charity that funds free treatment and publishes plain-language information and self-assessment tools for anyone worried about their own or someone else's gambling.
- GamCare - offers free counselling, support groups and structured treatment in person, by telephone and online, and operates the National Gambling Helpline.
- GamStop - the free national self-exclusion scheme: one registration blocks your access to the gambling websites and apps covered by the scheme for the period you choose. We take part in the scheme and honour every registration.
- The National Gambling Helpline - free, confidential advice from trained advisers at any hour of the day, by telephone and live chat, for people who gamble and for those affected by someone else's gambling.
Many banks also let you block gambling payments from your card or account through their app. If you tell our support team you are worried about your gambling, we will apply the controls you ask for, switch off marketing and keep the conversation confidential.
Protecting minors
Playing with us is restricted to adults aged 18 or over. We carry out age and identity verification when you register and may ask for documents at any time; until those checks are complete you cannot deposit or play. Opening an account for someone under 18, or letting a child use your account, breaches our terms, and we will close the account and void any winnings.
- Keep your login details and payment cards to yourself, and never let anyone else use your account.
- Log out fully when you finish, and do not save your password in a shared browser.
- Install filtering or parental control software on devices that children use; several widely available products can block gambling sites, and most operating systems and home routers include controls of their own.
- Use the child or guest profiles built into phones, tablets and computers.
- Talk to older children about gambling and about why age limits exist online.
If you believe someone under 18 has used your account, please contact live chat or e-mail support@casinotemplenile.co.uk straight away so that we can look into it and secure the account.
